Change audio pitch

What it does

Moves a track up or down by whole semitones, as far as twelve (one octave) either way, without changing its tempo or length. It is real pitch shifting, not a playback-speed trick.

• Put a backing track into a comfortable singing range.
• Match two recordings that were made in different keys.
• Tune a song to an instrument you can’t retune, like a piano.

How to change the pitch

1. Open your file.
2. Move the Pitch slider: each step is one semitone, and minus is lower.
3. Press Play and compare against your voice or instrument.
4. Export the result.

One semitone is one key on a piano, so shifting a song in C by +2 puts it in D. To change the tempo instead, use the speed tool.
